In this edition of SnoQap Spotlight, we speak with Ben Chimento, the President of SnoQap, a nonprofit dedicated to helping students enhance their writing skills through peer-reviewed articles on a wide range of topics.

"Our goal is to create a platform for students to practice thinking through writing, offering them a constructive way to explore topics they are passionate about."
— Ben Chimento

Quick Q & A:

Question 1: How did you get involved with SnoQap, and what is your current role?

A. I've been with SnoQap for several years, initially starting on the marketing side. I had worked with different nonprofits previously, and was able to help SnoQap apply for different marketing grants. From there, I continued working with the team on different projects which led to my current role as President.

In my current role, I'm focused on expanding SnoQap's reach and impact. I also help get our talent, admin, writers, and board anything they may need.

"My vision for SnoQap is to build a place where students and professionals can share stories and insights by exploring topics they’re interested in."
— Ben Chimento

Question 2: What type of articles or content do you like to write?

A. So, I’m actually not a huge writer. I’m more of a reader and I enjoy non-fiction pieces. I really like autobiographies or historical works. The cool thing about being with SnoQap is that even though I’m not a writer myself, I get to enjoy all these awesome pieces created by our writers.

That’s why I encourage anyone and everyone to check out the SnoQap website in your free time. We have hundreds of pieces across different topics which makes it easy to find something that interests you.

The Mission of SnoQap: Encouraging Thoughtful Writing

Since 2016, SnoQap has been providing a unique platform for College Students to write about subjects that interest them, including science, technology, politics, and history. By submitting articles, students receive peer reviews and constructive feedback, helping them to hone their writing skills and think critically about their chosen topics.

Current College Students can apply to be a writer here https://www.snoqap.com/acw-application, - All others are invited to be a writer or contact us on the website to be a volunteer editor.

"We want to give students a space to explore their interests and develop their writing in a supportive environment."
— Ben Chimento

— Ben Chimento

SnoQap Spotlight Initiative

This year we really want to focus on creating this SnoQap Spotlight series, to feature students and friends of SnoQap.

Our SnoQap Spotlight platform differs from our current articles that are released on the site. SnoQap Spotlight aims to highlight the backgrounds and achievements of our contributors, offering a space for them to share their stories and inspire others.

"SnoQap Spotlight is about giving our writers and community members a voice, showcasing their journeys and the topics they care about."
— Ben Chimento
